The Kerala Story, a controversial film that explores the subject of religious conversion, garnered significant national attention on Friday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi attributed its portrayal of terror conspiracies as evidence of the prevailing threat. Utilizing the film as a platform to criticize the Congress, he delivered a scathing address at a rally in Karnataka that fueled extensive discourse across the country.

During a political rally held in the poll-bound state of Ballari, the Prime Minister expressed admiration for the state's industrious and skilled populace, while also commending the controversial film "The Kerala Story" for unveiling hidden terror conspiracies within the state.

He went on to criticize the Congress for seemingly supporting such nefarious activities that threaten the well-being of the nation, while engaging in clandestine negotiations with individuals who harbor extremist tendencies. Mr. Modi urged the people of Karnataka to exercise caution with regards to the Congress.

Kerala's Governor Arif Mohammed Khan responded to queries from reporters in Ernakulam by stating that he had yet to watch the film. While refraining from providing an opinion, he acknowledged that there have been claims that the film was based on actual events, and emphasized the need for the government to investigate the matter.

The film's producer, Vipul Shah, expressed a sense of validation as his film once again garnered attention and was mentioned by the Prime Minister. He cited the positive judgment by the Kerala High Court earlier that day as further evidence of his film's merit. Shah emphasized that the film was not intended to target any particular community or religion, but rather aimed to expose the dangers of terrorism.
On the other hand, the youth wing of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), criticized the Prime Minister for endorsing the film and accused him of attempting to "whitewash" it. They urged Mr. Modi to retract his statements and apologize for promoting an "anti-Kerala" movie. DYFI president and Rajya Sabha member A.A. Rahim claimed that the film was a political conspiracy by the Sangh Parivar to stir unrest in society and defame Kerala's reputation.
In a tweet, Mr. Rahim demanded that a person in a constitutional position should align themselves with facts, rather than promoting hate propaganda.
